Meet Dr. David S. Wishnew, Medical Director of the Austin Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center, a division of Austin Surgical Hospital, and affiliate treatment facility of HyperbaRXs.

Dr. Wishnew is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and has been in practice in the Austin area since 1984. He joined the HyperbaRXs physician group in the summer of 2009.

Dr. Wishnew graduated from Clark University, Worcester, Massachusetts in June, 1970 and attended the New School for Social Research in New York City from September, 1970 through September, 1972. He then went to the University of Brussels Medical School in October, 1972 and graduated with honors in June, 1979.

Following his education, Dr. Wishnew performed his residency in General Surgery at SUNY Buffalo between July, 1979 and June, 1982. He trained at Buffalo General Hospital, Roswell Park Institute, Children's Hospital of Buffalo and Buffalo V.A. He then did a fellowship in Plastic Surgery at SUNY Buffalo between 1982 and 1984. He moved to San Antonio for burn training at Brooke Army Research Institute. In 2008, at Nix Medical Center in San Antonio, he completed a Hyperbaric Medicine Team Training course.

Dr. Wishnew is active in community service work with the Susan B. Komen Foundation Grants Committee (local affiliate), and is a founding member and participating surgeon of Austin SMILES. He was a recipient of Texas Monthly "Super Doctor Award" 2004-2008.
